The staff and volunteers are amazing. They are devoted to helping the pets have a chance at a forever home and families that love and protect them. Please take the time to visit the kennel and perhaps find your forever friend.
We need more people like the staff here! Caring, compassionate and responsible! Our experience with the Humane Society of Central Texas was great.
We even rescued a 2.5 year old Great Pyrenees. She is super sweet and gentle, loves to run and play.
So glad we stopped in!
Highly recommend working with Alijah. He was knowledgeable about the animals and seemed to care a great deal for them. We told him what we were looking for and that we had a cat. I wasn’t looking for a pit bull. But when he brought Chive out I fell in love with him. Great job matching him with us. Staff at the front desk was also pleasant to work with. We call him Rex now.
I used to volunteer here all the time, it is a wonderful place that is in desperate need of adoptions just as every shelter is! Ignore the reviews from ignorant people that don’t understand calling a shelter when it is very busy, that they won’t be able to pick up the phone most times- that’s just common sense. The staff here are so considerate and caring and just amazing. Please adopt and please do your research on the breed you’re adopting!!
The fact that we need the Humane Society is unfortunate, but we are all blessed to have it. The people that work there are wonderful, and I can tell their love for animals is nothing but genuine. We found a litter of kittens out near the highway, but couldn't find the mother. When I took them to the Humane Society, they didn't just welcome the kittens, they took them out of the crate and loved them! I've never seen people that found so much joy from a litter of stray cats, and it made me feel good to know they are there. ADOPT A PET PEOPLE!!!!
I’m so disappointed in this place. I’m new to Texas and really wanted to adopt. I’ve called this facility 3 times and left my contact and yet haven’t gotten a callback. I’ve called the 4th time & they tell me every time oh we don’t have your information. So I rather them be honest and tell me they don’t want to adopt to me it’s ok. I’ll find another facility.
I spoke with a volunteer named Karen and she was so sweet and showed me dogs that she thought we would be compatible and she picked out 2 very loving dogs. Jackolope is awesome and calm and great with kids. I'm still thinking about the right one.
This shelter was well organized and clean. We checked in and a volunteer brought us on a walk through of the kennels. So many dogs! It's so heartbreaking to see. We took a couple pictures of dogs we were interested in meeting. She then brought us out to the play yard and brought each dog out to meet us. After our first couple picks didn't quite match up, she asked us a few questions and made a couple suggestions that were a much better fit. If you go to adopt, I do recommend letting the volunteer make a suggestion as they work with the dogs and get to know each one well. For our family needs her suggestion was perfect! My husband wasn't on board but all the kids and I agreed, Rebecca was a winner! I highly recommend adopting here if you can. So many dogs in need of homes and the facility is top notch.
